A Little About Me
I’m Dean MacDonald, an astrophotographer from Owen Sound, Ontario. I mainly focus on deep-sky imaging of galaxies and nebulae, but I also enjoy capturing auroras, and comets — when they come around.
In 2013, I started experimenting with wide-field Milky Way images using a DSLR and tripod. Those early nights under the stars got me hooked, and by 2017 I was using a telescope, equatorial mount, and dedicated astronomy camera to explore deep-sky imaging.
Over time, my setup has evolved, letting me capture celestial objects in more detail than I ever imagined when starting out. No matter how much the gear changes or how many targets I photograph, the thrill of revealing something hidden in the night sky remains the same.
Through my images, I hope to inspire others who are curious about astronomy, photography, or both — and to share my work and what I’ve learned along the way.
